EMF
Meters
In
recent years it has become a common theory that a ghost/spirit
gives off an electro magnetic field which can be detected
by Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) meters. Most things in nature,
both alive and inanimate, give off an electromagnetic field.
Many man-made devices such as electrical distribution boards,
socket outlets, electrical cables which are carrying current,
computers, television sets, air conditioning units, appliances
and much more will emit a very strong electromagnetic field
readings as part of their normal operation.
The unit of measurement most often used for EMF in the U.K
and Europe is the milliTesla (mt) (named after the famous
scientist Nicolas Tesla who experimented greatly with electricity).
In the U.S. the unit of measurement is called the milligaus
(mg). 1 Tesla = 10,000 Gauss.
A paranormal occurrence or ghost may give off EMF readings
in the range of 1.5mg to about 6mg depending on the EMF
meter you use. If you suspect that the reading may be of
a paranormal nature, the reading should not be a steady.
Steady/constant readings are usually artificially created,
whereas a paranormal reading would fluctuate or even pulse.
You may have to move around to see where the reading or
ghost may be taking you.
Below is a list of the EMF meters/equipment used by our
team of Investigators.

The
Compass
This is basically the cheapest kind of EMF equipment
you will find. This does not give readings in milligaus
but the needle points north due to the magnetic north
pole.
Before commencing an investigation, you should check
out your bearings and take note of where north is. If
you come across paranormal activity the compass may
start to point in the direction in which the object
is located in, which may not be north. Also if the compass
starts to spin around this may also be paranormal activity.
The use of a compass for ghost investigations dates
back to at least the 1800's. It's one of the oldest
paranormal investigation tools still used by paranormal
investigators throughout the world today. With no batteries
to be drained and no sensitive electronic circuits it
remains a simple but highly effective tool.

The
Cell Sensor Meter
This meter has an analog readout and it incorporates
a sensitivity control, it was actually designed for
the intended use of detecting the strength of mobile
phone signals. It is a very sensitive instrument and
it will beep and glow red when there is a strong EMF
reading. Paranormal activity readings occur at 1.5mG
to 4mG. If this meter max's out then the field strength
is too high to be paranormal and it is most probably
electrical outlets, power lines, computers, appliances,
etc. Paranormal activity may also make the needle on
this meter move back and forth. This type of EMF meter
requires the use of the external probe (as pictured
on the left hand side of the meter) and is useless without
it. |

The
digital EMF meter
This is one of the best EMF meters to use in the paranormal
investigation field because this meter gives a precise
digital readout of the milligaus readings, however one
drawback with this meter is that it doesn't have any
back-light on the display, requiring the use of an external
light to enable reading it in the dark. Paranormal activity
may occur at 1.5mG to 6mG for this meter. You want to
also look for sudden spikes even if there is a low reading,
because it may be the trail of what you are trying to
find. This type of meter gives a lot less "false-alarms"
as the analog type.
Digital EMF meters come in two styles: Single-axis and
Tri-Field. A single axis meter (as the one shown to
the left) only detects EMF fields that cross the meter
at a right angle (90 degrees) as the large white arrow
on the face of the meter shows. Tri-Field meters detect
EMF fields in all 3 dimensions at the same time. They
are, however, much more expensive.

The
K2 / K-II Meter
The K2 meter uses lights to indicate the energy instead
of a needle, flashing and then finally staying lit at
the level found with the meter.
The meter is labeled with 5 levels with 5 corresponding
LED lights as follows:
* 1st LED (Green) = < 1.5 mG
* 2nd LED (Green) = 1.5 mG - 2.5 mG
* 3rd LED (Yellow) = 2.5 mG - 10 mG
* 4th LED (Red) = 10 mG - 20 mG
* 5th LED (Red) = > 20 mG
Using the K2 With Spirits The K2 meter was tested by
Chris Fleming, psychic medium from the show Dead Famous
on the Biography channel. He wanted to use the K2 meter
in conjunction with information he was said to be picking
up on from any ghosts or spirits present. "I have
been using many different devices to compliment my investigations
and provide scientific evidence to support my "Sixth
Sense." I have quickly found the K-II meter device
to be especially useful tool in communicating with the
spirit world."
When the K2 meter is on, you can ask a question from
the spirits, asking them to respond with 'flash once
for no, twice for yes', or a similar method. If you
get a response when setting up this method and it works,
then continue on with further questions that can be
answered in a yes or no form. The K2 meter has been
reported as being tested not only by Chris Fleming,
but by other paranormal investigators as well, and seems
to be getting good reviews.
The standard on/off switch on these units is extremely
sensitive, which does lead to the meter powering off
and then powering back on and in turn performing the
self test fairly frequently. When the unit performs
the self test the lights flash much as they do when
the unit is reportedly receiving an answer from a spirit.
The easiest way to identify if the K-II is in fact
just powering off and on is by watching the first green
light which should stay illuminated at all times when
the unit is continuously powered on.
The meter our team uses has had the pressure switch
replaced with a toggle switch, thus the unit is continuously
powered on, eliminating these "false" readings.
